Assessment sessions are designed for first time and beginner level clients, Class will includes high impact exercises that will be modified and tailored for any level. The Peterson Step-up begins with one foot on a low platform. You may use 8-10 inch step, or an unstable surface such as a Bosu ball. (As seen in the pictures above.) Start this exercise by standing on top of the platform; begin by slowly stepping down close and in front of the platform. Lift the heel of the foot on top of the platform and position the toes so it is close to the opposite leg as shown in the second picture. Now lift the toes of the foot you're standing on, as this will increase the emphasis on the working leg. From this start position straighten the leg on top of the platform while lowering the heel. Do 3 sets of 10 each leg with no weight at first, and then 10 - 20 lbs dumbbells or Kettlebell.
